What makes a good teacher? 🤔

You know when someone compliments you on a good quality you have…

“𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘢𝘭.”

“𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥.”

These are the ones I’ve been hearing.

My typical response is, “𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭.”

My parents deserve full credit for teaching me to be disciplined and meticulous. 🙌

When people tell me, “𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘨𝘢 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳.”

I used to say, “𝘕𝘰, 𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵. 𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨.”

Nowadays, I would proudly take the compliment, and I would say,

“𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘵𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭.” 😊

The more I learn about other people’s yoga journeys and teaching paths, the more grateful I am to have such 𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗦.

So what makes a good teacher?

👉 A good teacher knows how to bring out the best in students.

👉 A good teacher creates an environment in which students can learn rather than just teach.

I remember a quote from Socrates, “𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬.”
