We have never arrived

One of my core values as a yoga teacher is to be a lifelong learner and be willing to continue to grow and revise.

Take teaching online as an example. It was something that was once “good to have but not a must.”

Since COVID, it’s fair to say most teachers NEED to adapt from teaching in-person classes to teaching online. And now in my point of view, it’s going to be part of yoga teaching life.

There was resistance at first from many teachers, but I thought about how I could utilise technology to reach more people to share the practice of yoga, and how I could help students develop a home practice, something that is fundamental in my own yoga journey.

I find that yoga teachers are feeling more alone and burned out than ever.

Being a yoga teacher is like having your own business and it can feel like you’re doing it all alone sometimes! 😞

Especially if you’re a new teacher, this can feel extra lonely, when you’re not feeling confident or supported.

As I reflected on my own yoga teaching journey, one thing that has helped me stay on the path, and navigate through challenges, and even elevate my teaching as a teacher, is having mentors in my life.

Whenever I am stuck, they give me guidance, about yoga, teaching, and life. They also give me additional areas to explore to deepen my study.

But not many people had that experience with their Yoga Teacher Training.

I see there is a lack of space as teachers to come together as a community — a space for teachers to commiserate, connect and have a teacher practice so we can geek out on techniques.

After I moved to Singapore, the loneliness creep in and I personally yearn to have that teacher space. I have a calling to:

➡️ Take the role of a mentor to help newer yoga teachers to navigate their path.

➡️ Create an ongoing connection and build a supportive community for yoga teachers.

I have been teaching students for 7 years now. People talk about 7-year itch. Maybe it’s the itch.

I feel it’s time for me to step up, and answer to what I feel is needed in the yoga community today – to support other teachers in their journey.

𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻’𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂. 🙏
