September 13 is our wedding anniversary. ♥️

7-year itch. 14. The unlucky number.

Also, the fact that we married on the day when the world fell apart in the financial crisis on September 13, 2018.

♥️We dated for 7 years. So as the itch hit, we get married. ♥️We are married for 14 years. Double the time of our dating.

Maybe there is another itch, which I am going to “scratch” off in Madrid.

𝟳 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝟭𝟰 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗲. 𝟮𝟭 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.

Here is something I learned.

From your relationship with your partner to your career, or yourself, everything comes with sacrifice and hard work.

The person you choose to be with is the person you fight with. The job you take is the one you stress over. The life you dream of is the one you would encounter struggles and pain.

Whatever that we feel good about also comes with the bad. It’s inevitable.

So yes, there is sacrifice.

Knowing that we need to sacrifice something to gain something, also reminds us that good things take hard work.

You can’t expect a relationship to sustain without hard work.

For years, this is my pondering question,

𝙞𝙨 “𝙅𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚” 𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝?

When we love something, is that enough? It does not only about relationships. Our job, our health, ourselves,

Turns out JUST LOVE is not enough. Love comes with commitment, hard work, and sacrifice.

Past 3 years with moving and COVID, even though we are “STUCK” together, quality time has been challenging. Without noticing we have both dedicated our time to our work. Our work has been fruitful, but we know it’s time to re-prioritize how we spend our life, or at least, attempt to make some adjustments.

It may mean we need to sacrifice something in the other areas of our life – leaving our kids at home (still feel uncomfortable); taking a break from work (another vacation?? You just come back..!!)

♥️ Do I believe we can truly have a work-life balance? I do. ♥️ Do I believe we can HAVE IT ALL? I do.

But whatever you ❤️, know that it requires sacrifice and hard work.
