Day 4 of #Pure5Pillars is 🔥

And the choice is Twist/Arm balance.

When it comes to arm balances/twists, because of the intense nature of these poses we tend to do 2 things.

• We tend to push too hard to get there • We avoid it and op out

𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙞𝙥𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙧𝙢 𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨

Most students think they can’t do arm balance because of their lack of strength. The truth is most students can’t do arm balance because of the lack of technique and the inability to relax in the pose.

🌟 Break it down. Observe where your struggle is. It is the arms? The hips? The core? Or perhaps it’s the angle! 🌟 Don’t become overly intense in your desire to perform the pose. Relax and see what happens! 🌟Practice consistently.

When it comes to twists,

Twists feel claustrophobic and yet have a dynamic effect on breathing. Most students find it difficult to breathe because we are all squeezed and twisted yet if we can facilitate our breathing we can release the tension in our bodies and feel more at ease.

✨ Use props to facilitate the twists so it’s not forceful ✨ Binds are fine but not to the extent to compromise breathing and alignment ✨Don’t forget to breath

My choice of today is one of the most challenging arm balances in my own practice – Parva Kukkutasana.

Yea… It’s a lot.
