How important is a Teachers’ Practice? 🤔
A 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 is a practice for yoga teachers to practice together.
I don’t think I have to emphasize the importance of keeping a consistent practice as a yoga teacher.
Normally, our choices are:
1️⃣ Go to class 2️⃣ Self-practice
But is that enough?
I attend class, but I’ll be honest. As much as I want to focus on my own practice on the mat and disregard all the students around me, I sometimes still feel the pressure, or feel that “𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨”.
And I’ve heard students complain about feeling “𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘥” when I practice next to them in class, despite the fact that I, too, am a student.
I do my self-practice, but as we all know, self-practice discipline is not always easy to maintain. And community is an important aspect of yoga, as it is a place where people can come together and empower one another. 🙌
I started a Teachers Practice in the second half of 2022, which was one of my accomplishments. It’s small, really small, and there are usually only a few of us. 😊
But that Thursday afternoon practice has become the highlight of our week, to get together and just practice, in this safe container, where we don’t have to worry about what other people see/think of us, where we can just practice, sometimes chat about teaching, and sometimes just slack and rest. (Ha!) ✨
𝗜𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯, 𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲.
This is an invitation-only practice for yoga teachers or teachers-to-be.
If you feel you need this space too for yourself, message me for details. 😊
