Many yoga teachers feel that philosophy is intimidating, and I am one of them.

Many of us feel โ€œuncomfortableโ€ or โ€œnot qualifiedโ€ to incorporate philosophy when teaching yoga.

Philosophy simply is the art of living.

Simply put philosophy is โ€œ๐—ฎ ๐—ฐ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฒโ€™๐˜€ ๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—น๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ฒโ€ โ€“ Epictetus, Discourse.

As teachers, we donโ€™t have to lay out the yamas & niyamas or talk about Yoga Sutras if we are not comfortable with it.

But we can start with considering the language and tone we give in class to emphasize cultivating awareness, inquiry, and turning inwards in practice.

And when we do that, we are teaching philosophy.
