January 31. End of the month. How did your first month of 2022 go?
Do you know January 31 is the “National Backward Day”?!
Don’t get me wrong. It’s not the day to ask us to fall “backwards”. The Backward Day is a day to encourage us to do things differently, and reverse our normal ways of doing things, and take a new perspective. 🔍
In January, many of us think of habits – correcting old ones, creating new ones. While habits are great, they also have a downside (yes, even good habits).
As James Clear from Atomic Habits says,
“The upside of habits is that we can do things without thinking. The downside of habits is that you get used to doing things a certain way we stop paying attention to little errors.”
In another words, when we are stuck in our habitual patterns, we stop thinking about how to do it better.
It’s easy to go through life making the same choices over and over and following the same patterns and habits. But sometimes this is how we find ourselves stuck, and we fail to see things with fresh eyes.
How about take a step back and approach things from a new angle. Even try doing the opposite.
It’s the end of January. If you find yourself getting stuck in habitual patterns, try
1️⃣ View your challenges with a different lens 2️⃣ Listen from another person’s perspective 3️⃣ Observe your tendency and patterns and try to do the opposite and see if you can find some new insights.
🤸🏼♀️ Take a different yoga class today. Or even just choose a different spot in class. 🎨 Do something creative. ☕️ Visit a new cafe. Try a new dish. 🗓 Change up your schedule. 👚 Wear your shirt inside out?
With fresh perspective we may find new solutions to old problems, and new inspirations and ideas to do things.
Today, turn your world upside down 🤸🏼♀️ , inside out and have some fun with it.
