𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸?
I’ll tell you a secret. 🤫
When I first moved to Singapore, I wanted to start teaching again once I settled down with my family. Many teachers have gone through relocations or moved from place to place, and many of them have started teaching right away.
Do you know how long it took me to restart? It was more than a year.
Yes. It was because my fear was holding me back.
I thought: ▪️ I am still settling down with my family. I am too busy to find the time. ▪️ COVID did not help in starting teaching. ▪️ I have not taught for a while and I am not sure if I can still teach. ▪️ I need more time to “research” the market.
Then, when I talked to my teacher about my “struggle,” he gave me a big smack. 👊 (Thank you, teacher)
He told me my ego and insecurities are stopping me from taking the leap when the right thing to do is to DO WHAT I KNOW AND WHAT I NEED TO DO.
Yes. It was still terrifying to start. But the day I started I feel alive again because I know this is what I was meant to do. I got over my fear, and now I live every day with REAL JOY AND FULFILMENT.
Don’t let fear get in your way.
Go from fear to courage.
I know it’s hard. But the only thing that is standing between you and the teacher you want to be is “FEAR.”
. . .
Have you been putting off your plans to start teaching? Have you felt scared sending out those CVs to studios? Do you feel like you are not good enough to teach? Have you looked at your 200 hours TT certificate and asked if you have wasted your time on it?
If you said yes to all of those, I’d like to tell you… All that fear is in your head. And you only have two choices to overcome it:
😥 Stay where you are in your comfort zone and continue to be stuck or ✊ Take a scary step and grow
𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 and go chase your dreams fearlessly! And just like before, know that I’ll be here rooting for your careers’ success!
