You can find a retreat anytime by looking inwards

Arenโ€™t we all dreaming about vacation right now? ๐Ÿ–

Every year in the fall I would go to a yoga retreat with my teachers. It is the only time in the year I carved out to spend time away from my family and spend time with my yoga community, friends, and teachers.

Retreat is different from a vacation. A vacation can be a retreat but retreats are not โ€œjust vacationโ€.

While vacation is simply a time off from everyday routines, retreats are a purposeful gateway intended for self-reflection and inner work. ๐Ÿ’ญ

December. Itโ€™s the time when I โ€œretreatโ€ myself and turn inwards. I missed doing long practices, quiet time, self-reflection. So, I decided to create a โ€œretreatโ€ for myself, and do exactly that, in my own bedroom. I didnโ€™t leave home. I practiced without time frames; I wrote. I turned off the world.

โ€œWherever you go, wherever you are,โ€ said Jon Kabat-Zinn.

Turn on some music, tune out the world. Turn off the technology, go deep in writing. Turn off your thoughts, and do long practices.

A long Sirsasana. A long Sarvangasana. And a long Savasana. That will do.

Find a retreat in yourself, when you can, at any moment.
